Wow! Such spectacular scenery just 1.5 hours from our doorstep. Who knew…certainly not us! Although this is a long hike (by our standards) and you are quite literally swarmed with mosquitos much of the time….this is one hike, that if you’re up for it, offers jaw dropping scenery at every turn!
Another return weekend to the Santiam Pass – We spent a lot of time here this summer!
This time, I think I’ll just let the pictures tell the story!
Quite literally one of the best campsites we’ve ever had! I almost didn’t want to leave the campground to go hiking!
Loved this place!
An early start as the sun is rising. Wanted to beat the crowds and the heat…
Wildflowers along the way…
Our first view of the mountain….
Finally up to Jefferson Park…Too many alpine lakes to count! Spectacular views at every turn!
Mt. Jefferson reflection
We could have stayed here all day!
A few paintbrush…still early in the season!
Yet another lake.
Wild lillies
Didn’t feel too guilty about some good scones in the a.m. after that hike!
Coming up next, our first international road trip with the Bambi through the great Rocky Mountains…..
Which campground did you stay in on this trip? Thanks for all your postings, I LOVE them!!!!

Hi Amy…It was whispering Falls Campground which at that time was not reservable…this year, I think you’ll be able to reserve sites online! All the campgrounds here were great.

Jefferson Park was the first backpack trip that we took our kids on abt 25 years ago! We visit several times a year, as day hikes, but plan to take the grandkids as their first real backpack trip. Such a fantastic place, right in our back yard. There is no greater Artist than God!
