The nice thing about waiting so long to update my blog is that I get to relive our trip again! I’ve had a lot of fun today going through the thousands of photos stored on my computer!
Day two in the park started out under a blanket of clouds again. Driving the highway to the other side was actually much more nerve wracking this time. The fog became so dense that visibility was down to near zero in spots. This time, I knew the small wall and cliffs were there – we just couldn’t see them. We crawled up the hill hoping to just stay on the road. Again, near the top, the clouds parted a bit. Not much traffic to start the day – possibly due to the weather conditions or maybe it was the early hour. This allowed us to get a nice parking spot at the St. Mary’s trailhead. Usually I would consider it nice to have the trails to myself, but in bear country, more people meant less worry about grizzlies on the trail. Todd laughed at me, but I made sure to have my bear bells jingling, bear spray in reach and I sang every John Denver song I could think of around corners with limited visibility….and what can I say…we’re alive to tell the tale!

Natural rock outcroppings here made a nice place to stop and have lunch.
By the time we actually got to Victoria Falls, it was raining pretty hard so we turned around.

It’s a treat to hike through aspen groves as it’s not something we see in Oregon.

We returned to camp in time for another beautiful sunset.
A great dinner…flank steak and baked potato and corn on the cob…all available at the campground. Perfect way to end the night.

Laura, it’s worth the trip! The campgrounds in the park looked very nice, too if you plan your trip in advance a little sooner than we did! The KOA was really nice, but it cost 100.00 a night for the premium sites….

Thank you for so generously sharing your thoughts and photos, I love your photography, writing and camper style! We bought a 16′ Bambi last September and got out for a few weekends here in Minnesota. We’re looking forward to more adventures this coming year – we’re 51 yr old empty nesters. You’ve set the bar pretty high for “cutifying” your trailer. Next to me, at this very moment, are a bunch of fabric samples I’m working with to try to “cutify” ours! Anyway, we’re longing to be closer to the beauty of Oregon and inspired to hit the road. Thank you very much for your blog!

Tracy, I’d love to see what you do with it! We have the Paprika interior which had a very light gray fabric on the seat cushions. I like it enough but after 3 years and a lot of use they’re getting a bit dirty. I’m thinking I’ll be replacing the fabric, too. Not sure what I’ll do! I like the pop of red on the back cushions so I’ll probably keep it. The little Bambi DWR was always my inspiration….loved the colors they used. That’s why we went with the bright red awning!

I took a chance today to see if there was anything new on your blog, and to my surprise I got to read six new posts. All beautiful, but the color of the water in the last one blew me away. Love seeing your adventures.
