In the next week, I hope to finish my blog posts on our Bambi travels – I still have a bit of catching up to do. We’ve owned our little trailer for four years and it’s accompanied us on 70 wonderful adventures. This past week, we decided to trade it in for a larger Airstream. We’ll pick it up next weekend, and of course, we’re excited…but we’re definitely going to miss the Bambi. Just looking at it makes me smile! If we had a place to store two, we would definitely keep her!
So….I continue our last travels where I left off…..Through the Canadian Rocky Mountains…
We left earlier than we had planned for Jasper. We thought we’d spend a bit more time in the Lake Louise area, but bad weather was coming in and we really wanted to experience the drive to Jasper before the mountains were obscured in cloud cover. So glad we did. This drive for me, was one of the highlights of the trip. Living in Portland, at the base of the Cascade Mountains I wasn’t expecting to be nearly as impressed as I was. Yes, we have mountains here, but nothing like this! I would return to the Canadian Rockies just to get a chance to do this drive again….

Tracy, it’s sitting on the lot at Airstream NW…:( I keep driving by and seeing it there and I have to remind myself how nice the bigger one will be, too! We’re putting on the red awnings again…which will make me happy!

Kim, we have so enjoyed you pictures. You are a very talented photographer! We too have a Bambi and you have been our inspiration. We too have been considering a larger Airstream. My husband plans to retire in February so we hope to spend a lot of our time traveling for weeks at a time. Which model and length did you order?

Hi Linda 🙂 I wish we were that close to retirement. We’re getting a new 25 ft. International. We learned a lot with our little Bambi. For one, we like off season camping better than during the summer – way less people. The extra floor space will be really nice when we’re at the beach during stormy weather. We went back and forth between the 25 & 27 and decided the 25 would work best for us. More storage than we’ll now what to do with for a while. Our biggest worry is getting the big one onto all the private little campsites we’ve been able to use. A big learning curve for us!
I’ll keep my blog, but probably should think of a more fitting name 😉

Thank you, Bill! The red awning package is always a nice contrast against the plentiful hues of green we have here in the PNW 🙂 Excited, and a little nervous at the same time. The little 16 footer was sure nice to sneak into prime campsites!

How wonderful for them! That’s what we want to do someday, too – although that’s still a few years away for us. Do they have a blog where they record their adventures…I’d love to see it if they do!

I have a 13′ foot (10′ not including the tongue 😉 itty-bitty 1977 Cardinal. Your Bambi is my dream trailer….Your photography is gorgeous-dreamy and I always look forward to your posts, I hope you will continue the blog with your not-so-small-small trailer.

Hi Dan, we traded ours in on a larger one. Don’t know if you’re in the area , but it’s at Airstream NW in Portland. You won’t regret it…we loved our Bambi. Held the value very, very well, too!

I just found your blog this past week. My husband and I are considering purchasing a 25ft Flying Cloud with the twin bed configuration so of course we went scouring the internet for pros and cons. We found Canadian National Park Campgrounds all had hot showers and were clean. Got married in Yoho NP while on an 11 day honeymoon.
