We did it!
After much thought, we decided to move from our 25′ Signature, to the 28′ floorpan. A mere 24 inches difference between the two models, yet a completely different feel that works much better for our family. We looked for over a year and the 28′ Signature RBT was hard to find. One finally came available in Los Angels, so we made the long drive down to pick it up.
After owning the 25′ for three years, it became apparent that having a separate sofa/dinette would be more useable for us. Todd often works when we’re traveling, and he likes having a dedicated table space. We thought about using Ultimate Airstream to change to the grand lounge design, but for nearly the same price, we were able to upgrade to the 28′ Signature, four model years newer.
We also switched from a queen bedroom to the twin version. We love all the space, both inside and out. Making the beds is MUCH easier and I love being able to access the overhead lockers without having to crawl over the bed. Todd is excited about all the extra outside storage. We are probably in the minority, but we also like having a rear bedroom vs a front bedroom.

We love the separate dinette/sofa area. We are really going to enjoy this space.

Congratulations Kim and Family!!! Yellow is such a beautifully cheerful color and reminds me of the happy feeling when the morning sun shines into the trailer! And good choice in getting the awning package (awnings on 3 sides) to block the sun when it gets too hot! We wish you and family much happiness and look forward to your excellent photography!

So very happy to see you back blogging and sharing your adventures!! You’ve been missed. We purchased an Airstream last year and have only had the time to take it out once due to work schedules. Learning a great deal and having your blog, and shared learning has been so helpful. Totally like the new look-yellow and green is so refreshing. Twin beds would be so nice. Walking around our queen bed the first time out was a big bummer. We are both very tall and truly discussed twin beds being the way to go. Plus, built in window seats! LOL. Look forward to future posts and blessings as you travel.

Hi Brenda! Todd is tall too and we switched the short queen out to a regular queen Casper Mattress in our 25′. It fit perfectly and made sleeping much nicer for him. The Twins are twin XLs and they seem to be okay so far as far as the length. Hope you guys get out and enjoy yours.

Oh my gosh, where did you find your cutting board? My husband and I have a 23′ International and he very sweetly made me a cutting board just like yours, only the grain runs the other way. And we thought we were so clever! Thanks for sharing your adventures!

Hi Julia! I love mine. There’s an Airstreamer known as Merchent Road that I bought it from. He makes them out of all different types of wood. Only problem is that it’s so pretty I really don’t cut on it 😉 It does a good job making my counter a little longer though! I’d like a matching one to go over my stove top. I don’t love the metal cover that comes attached and I have a cheap Ikea cutting board on top right now. You’re lucky to have a handy husband!

Do you still have the 16 ‘ Bambi. I met you at shuttle lake a few years ago. It is still my dream. It is perfect for myself and my dog. I have looked for one but very hard to find. I can’t figure out why they don’t make the large back window any longer. So glad to see you having fun. You are the best airstream decorators!!!

Wow! Great to see you guys are blogging again. I come back to this site from time to time to look at your great photos. We were also interested in the 28 International, but due to the tongue weight, we decided on the 27 Serenity instead. The 28’s are not that common. We agree that the bed in the front is better. The 28 feels like a mini 30′.

Like you, we didn’t buy a 28′ when we bought the 25′ because of the tongue weight. Todd is a number stickler and didn’t feel comfortable pulling the 28′ with the F150 and he didn’t want to buy a larger truck. In 2018 the tongue weight of the 28’s changed. We couldn’t find anyone at the dealership that could explain it, but we were finally able to speak with someone at Airstream HQ that explained the change to him. You would think that would be something Airstream would promote because the tongue weight of the 28′ was always a deal breaker for us. When we went over the scales fully loaded, we were just 50 pounds heavier than with the 25′ and well within the limits. So far so good 🙂

We’re following in your footsteps. We just took our last trip in our 2012 16ft. Bambi & made the decision to move up to a 25ft. with twin beds. We love our Bambi (our first RV & first Airstream) but need more room to do more traveling. You’ve inspired us to make the move now. I admire your courage to move up to a 28ft. It is a beautiful Airstream. It’s just the two of us with our one pup, so a 25ft. will suit us well & seem huge compared to the Bambi. Happy & safe streaming to you & your family 😀!

Finally someone else has a 28 foot Airstream. We love ours and have always been fans of the layout. We still have our original Airstream while you have upgraded or changed twice from your original. The layout is identical to ours except for the twin beds. Also, your finishes our updated. I am so excited to see you blogging again. I look forward to catching up
