Holiday celebration at Silver Falls State Park

Sunday, December 25, 2011

A special gift for me….both of our kids joined us for a fun night at Silver Falls State Park.  Our daughter is 22 and is usually busy working on the weekends and she’d never been able to join us on any of our weekend adventures. Somehow, she managed to get Christmas Eve off and we headed out for an early holiday celebration!

All decked out!

We visited Silver Falls State Park just a few weeks prior and thought at the time how much we’d enjoy sharing it with our kids. The campground is beautifully maintained and the little cabins seemed like a perfect way to sleep all four of us. $40.00 provides a nice cabin and a full trailer hook up. Site 24 is particularly private – not that it would have mattered since the park was virtually empty.

Brought a little tree for the kids.

Family Tradition..white cheddar popcorn…lots of it!

Ready for some hot drinks and games.

We arrived at 4 pm and set up the cabin and trailer with festive decorations. We brought along a little Christmas tree and the kids put colored lights inside the cabin. Todd also strung a set of lights on our Bambi 🙂 We were ready for some holiday fun! New cozy pajamas, a dinner of sausage and fondue, and peppermint hot chocolate rounded out the evening. The stars were spectacular under the clear December skies and provided a real treat as we sat around the campfire. Clear December nights are something we don’t see often in Oregon!

Lovin’ Linds!

brrrrr.

Breakfast in the frosty morning!

It was a peaceful and relaxing night, and I’m really glad that we were able to share it with our kids. Time goes fast, and as the years pass and our kids grow up, I’m really learning to cherish times  the four of us spend together like this!

Up early…ready for a hike?

Spoiled Santa…wants to be carried!

The family together!

Merry Christmas and happy holidays……
