Another fabulous weekend spent at Camp Creek on Mt. Hood (although I am a month late publishing this post!) The best part is the kids are excited to join us camping this summer! The tent looks cheery in the campsite, don’t ya think. We were able to claim our favorite campsite nestled in the trees.
This weekend we also met two other Airstream families, both out on their maiden voyages! You don’t see three Bambies in one small campground very often! One of them even had a red awning just like ours!
We probably won’t get back up to Camp Creek this summer since weekends are booked solid, but I’m looking forward to returning in September when camping season isn’t in full swing anymore.
We enjoyed breakfast at one of our favorite stops on the mountain!
A fun weekend with the kids!
Hey we are one if the Airstream families you blogged about! Very cool ! We have gone on three more trips since we met you at Camp Creek. All of them fun but not without newbie camper challenges. I forgot all the linens on one trip and the last one my husbands docks and underwear were accidentally left on our bed. Oops:) live and learn we still have fun.
My question is how much luck have you had in the past securing a walk up spot? Everything is booked and we want up go to Clear Lake next weekend. I saw your post about heading out on a Thursday to get a location. Us that the only time you have done that? Thanks for the info. Katy

Hi Katy 🙂 You’ll be in a routine in no time. We put shelves in our closet and now I keep it packed with clothes we bring for camping so we can pretty much just pick up and leave when we’re ready. Same with the linens…I just leave the bed made up. Of course you have a baby, too, which means lots of extra packing!
As far as luck finding camping spots on a Friday on the mountain…we’ve not tried this time of year. We’ve driven through some campgrounds though and they seem to usually be full to capacity. Clear Lake is pretty popular, so I would bet it would be hard to get in without reservations.
That said, both McNeil and Nottingham are walk-in only and we really like both of them. McNeil has never been busy and the sites are large and private. Nottingham had a two empty campsites when we were there last weekend but they were off the river…still nice though.
Glad you’re out enjoying your little Bambi! If you ever post photos send me a link. Would be fun to follow your adventures, too!
Take care!

Enjoy, Tom. It’s a fun little camera! It takes some getting used to but I really love the fact that my photos come out of my camera looking good without needing to be fixed in photoshop! If you post some photos, send me a link!
