We have had a LONG & HOT summer this year. We found out what the rest of the country already knows…It’s not comfortable to camp in 100 degree temps without AC. The four years that we had our Bambi, we used the AC exactly once. We took it out on purpose on a hot weekend to a state park just to make sure it worked. Boy did it! A 16ft trailer doesn’t have a lot of volume to cool, so efficiency wasn’t a problem!
Since we’ve had our new larger Airstream, the temperatures have consistently been in the mid 90s and after baking on our driveway without shade during the days, it’s almost been impossible to enjoy decorating and packing. We don’t have 30 amp capabilities for AC power at home, so we decided to take her out to a hook up park on Mt. Hood. Shhhhh….don’t tell anyone, we found a little gem of a place to camp, and besides two other couples and a bear cub that frequents the park, we were the only ones there. Full RV service with 50 amp hook ups!
The wonderful thing about this trip was our first time, EVER, being able to use a real shower while camping! We hooked up to the sewer lines and enjoyed nice long showers. What a treat! The bathroom space is such an improvement…actually the biggest improvement in my mind! We had no idea what we were missing!
The first day was HOT! The temperature reached 105 but with the AC running, we were able to keep the trailer at a comfortable 75 degrees. Not bad! The new systems are particularly quiet and Todd really enjoys the extra headroom.

The ford f150 has done a nice job of towing so far, and after several stops on the scales…we’re well within the limits fully loaded!
it looks wonderful….
