Rita Hayworth- A 1967 Airstream

So, this is a rather different blog entry for me. It’s not exactly about a camping experience, but it was a neat enough find that I wanted to include it with our other Airstream memories.

When we travel, we always try to stay in Kimpton Hotels if they’re available in the area. They’re fun, boutique hotels and each one has its own distinct personality. We were traveling to Santa Barbara this spring and saw that the city in fact had two Kimptons to choose from. One, more upscale, was located on premium real estate right in the downtown area. The other was in the close suburb of Goleta – a ten minute drive down the road. The choice was easy after a bit of research and you’ll see why!

The Goodland Hotel is a two-story hotel/motel that was probably at one time a Super 8 or Holiday Inn. This looks like a place we would have stayed on a road trip when I was growing up! The Kimpton bought it recently and remodeled it with a funky retro vibe – Complete with a 1967 Airstream on property!

I loved the decor! The place even had a gas fire pit that we sat out at each night. It was early spring and the temps were still cool. Kimpton Hotels also offer a free wine our each night with a selection of local wines.

Santa Barbara was beautiful! We really enjoyed just walking around the city each day. The photo on the right is a picture of the lobby. Kind of a fun surfy look.

Each room comes complete with a record player. The lobby has a music room where you can check out a wide variety of records.

We were upgraded two a two room suite with a nice patio area by the pool! Very nice!

The Airstream is open for guests to lounge in during the days. From photos, it looks like parties are held here sometimes as well. We had funning exploring and snapping photos!
