Back to Camp Creek…this time with our kids, (and dog!!) Warning….LOTS of photos!
This wasn’t a trip we thought we were going to be able to make as a family this year. Both of our kids work, and our daughter is taking a summer term at school. But somehow the stars aligned, a space opened up at the kennel for our two large dogs, and the sun came out – FINALLY…couldn’t ask for more.
Todd and I headed up to the mountain on Monday wanting to secure a good site, figuring it would be busy the week of the fourth. But, like Memorial Day, the campground was nearly empty. We were one of three campers there on the fourth and fifth. Go figure! We’ve toured most of the campgrounds on Mt. Hood and in our opinion this is by far the most beautiful, yet, it’s never busy.
This trip we stayed in site 5 which is located across the street from the creek. It is a secluded site, totally private, with the perfect place to pitch a tent. This site is completely surrounded by vegetation. You get the feeling you’re in the jungle, but the canopy above is open which allows for a decent amount of sunlight during the day. We had sunshine, but the evenings and mornings were still very cold as is typical for the mountains.
We had a great two days! Lots of good food, good books and family games. I am really glad we were able to spend this time together. Hopefully we’ll be able to fit another small trip in like this with the kids before the summer is over!
Good times – Happy memories!
