Hitched up and pulled out Friday night for a nice weekend! We’ve been keeping the trailer packed so it’s ready to go when we are. We can get home on Friday afternoon and be on the road in no time. Found a great site at Nehalem Bay, and enjoyed an unexpectedly nice weekend. After the wettest winter on record in Portland, the sunshine was an incredibly nice treat! Just over 24 hours- a lot of fun packed into a very short amount of time…I’ll let the pictures tell the story:

Our new favorite site at Nehalem….Can’t wait to go back!
We spent a fun afternoon hiking around Oswald West State Park located right off the highway between Cannon Beach and Manzanita! We’ve driven by many times and never stopped -glad we did this time. Who knew! Great hiking trails through old growth forest, suspension bridges along swift moving creeks and a sweet little beach at the end, that is obviously a favorite surfing destination.

The sun came out and we went for a walk around some nice trails located at Oswald West State Pake , between Cannon Beach and Manzanita!

Suspension bridge on our way to Smuggler’s Cove…where the brave of heart still surf this time of year.

Raging creeks after the recent heavy rains…

High tide at Hug Point State Park
Our beautiful weather during the day continued into the evening with moody, colorful skies! I can never tell what I enjoy more…watching the sun go down on the horizon or the color it paints the sky over the mountain range to the east.

Walk to the beach over the dunes to see sunset…dramatic skies that night!

Colors change by the minute as the sun gets lower on the horizon.

Long shadows at dusk!

Cooper loves running down the dunes!

What a treat…even a rainbow to end the day!

Perfect!

Dunes lit up

You can tell by the debris on the beach, that it’s been a stormy season.

A happy place!

Glad for the fire on this night!

A very hight tide over the night and must have been a storm off shore…lots of debris washed up on the beach that a.m.

Someone had fun 🙂

And even more….
We have this site reserved again….looking forward to our return!
Lovely. I haven’t seen any blog posts from you in a while. I’m anxiously awaiting Spring time for camping. You see, I am recovering from my last cancer surgery and healing right now, and I have spent the last 16 months reading other’s blogs and travels just waiting for our time to hitch up and go. Right now the trailer(1960 safari) is in the garage as hubby gives her a good polishing and a few upgrades. Spring is close…the end of my cancer journey as a new journey starts😊. I love your blog and trailer….be safe in your travels

It is hard to follow that seriousness with my frivolity. Anyone who has been touched by cancer learns to appreciate what a gift life is. In a sense, watching someone close to me suffer from cancer helped motivate me to seize the day and buy my Airstream at a young age. At any rate, I was just going to comment on how nice it is to see a new post. I am glad the two of you made it out so early in the season. My Airstream is still winterized and in Jackson Center for some maintenance. I am eager for an impromptu weekend escape like yours described above. It won’t be long now. Safe travels.

So glad to see your posts. They are one of my favorites. I retired from teaching last June and we have gone to Alaska and are returning from Charleston, SC. We were delivering our daughter’s dog to her. In Florida for a few days, looking for manatees. Good to hear you are feeling well.
Take care

Just a few years until I’m eligible to retire, too 🙂 30 years goes by quickly. I’m looking forward to being to travel at other times of the year besides summer 🙂 Glad you’re out enjoying yourself! Alaska is definitely on our list of places to visit! Enjoy yourself!
