Silver Falls State Park is a real gem among the parks in our state! If you haven’t been before, this place really is a destination. The hiking and scenery are quite spectacular! Therefore, it’s a hopping place in the summer – so, we take advantage of the off season.
Only one loop is open this time of the year and most of the sites are quite spacious and private. We prefer the back loop though, which tends to be very quiet since the water is turned off, and these sites aren’t reservable – electricity is still available!

Nestled in among the trees in the back loop. Finally had a chance to use our red awning!
The one downside to the park, is a lack of cell phone coverage. There is internet at the lodge where we stop each morning to check our messages. The lodge itself is a neat building and now serves lunch along with a nice selection of local beer and wine. The sandwiches are quite good and it’s a perfect place to stop, warm up and rest after a hike among the waterfalls.

Cooper admiring our campfire 🙂

Another view with our awning out. It makes me happy!

Miss the Bambi, but love our new space!

Great nature trail located right behind the campgrounds.

An ongoing game of cribbage…..

Rleaxing….

Relaxing….

….and more relaxing….

A short one mile walk gets you from the campground to the lodge and trails to the waterfall loops.

The scenery is never disappointing! Even in the misty rain!
We’re looking forward to at least one more visit before camping season is off and running.
