Fort Stevens is a beautiful campground located just outside Astoria, Oregon. However in the summer months it is BUSY. We love the bike trails and the proximity to downtown Astoria – but we hate the crowds. In our experience, lots of groups rent entire loops during the summer and it can get crazy. After Labor Day, the crowds reside and the park is enjoyable again.
We were lucky enough to have sunshine in the forecast for our three day weekend over Veterans Day. It was sunny, but it was cold! We purposely chose a site in the sunshine and our trailer was cheery and happy inside. We walked on the beach, rode our bikes, ate great local seafood and had a lovely campfire all three nights. It’s extra special to get days like this in November in the NW!
Not a full hook-up site, but one of our favorites because of the sunshine!
