Summer is quickly winding down for me – and oh-what-a-summer it’s been! In a mere two weeks I’ll be back in my classroom (possibly my last year) getting ready to welcome a room full of eager fourth graders. Until then, I plan to soak up every quiet minute I can.
I thought I’d use my post this time to record some favorite memories with family and friends over the past six weeks.
We began our summer break with two separate camping trips, breaking in our new solar set-up. Then, we were off to Maui to meet with our son and his girlfriend for 10 days. We don’t see them often anymore since he took a job in Boise, so it was wonderful to get the time together.

Birthday celebration 18 years later!
We were home for just a few days before my brother and his family came to visit from Georgia. They had just purchased a new trailer and had planned on spending a week on their property in Montana. Sadly, their new trailer and truck weren’t ready so our camping plans were changed at the last minute. We rented a beautiful cabin on Mt. Hood instead and had a great time.
And finally, three days at Silver Falls State Park, back in our Airstream. It was a working weekend for Todd, but we got in a few walks and bike rides between rain showers. It’s been a cool damp summer this year – but makes campfires all the nicer.
Special times and great memories!
How much do you love your Solo stove? We are so thrilled with ours. I swear, we are twin campers from other mothers. We’ve gone through so many options on outside side tables and I’m dying to know about your little red one. We have a similar one from Crate and Barrel, but it is orange and lives in our guest house, If you remember where you found the red one, please let me know!!
Happy Trails to you…

Becky, we LOVE our Solo Stove 🙂 I can’t believe how well it works. It burns hot with almost no smoke! We actually have had it since last Christmas and we’ve never used it until we went up to the cabin this summer. Oregon State parks are really strict about campfires and I was nervous to try it. We brought it to Silver Falls last week though and put it in the gravel right next to the fire pit – they didn’t say a word. I was nervous the whole time. Crazy, because I think it’s a lot safer than the low fire pits at the park.
The little table in the photo is actually bright orange. I bet we have the same one. I got it quite a few years ago when we still had our Bambi. A couple of years ago they had one in royal blue, but I haven’t seen the style since. If Crate and Barrel ever get it in again, I’m buying two. It’s the perfect size and I love the pop of color. We drag it with us in the truck every trip we go on!

Thanks! And by the way, we also have the little tent and mouse from Maileg for our 3 1/2 year old grandson. Funny, huh?
